Boat Party 2025

Lake Travis

Two party barges hosted 96 people for an unforgettable day on Lake Travis with swimming, fishing, and great food.

TAAA hosted a lively summer boat party on Lake Travis.

There were two party barge boats in total, a red and a yellow one, each with 48 people.

The boats had two floors with a waterslide leading to the water below on the second floor.

Other amenities included a grill, which we used to grill cumin lamb and other seasoned meats, and a cooler, which stored all our drinks.

Once we reached our final destination, the captain anchored the boats to nearby trees.

The scenery around us was beautiful: clear, blue skies with soft white clouds and blue-green water. There were gradual hills covered in trees, shrubs, and rocky outcrops on one side, and a large stretch of water on the other.

Everyone had a great time catching up, swimming in the water to cool off, relaxing with a drink in hand, and listening to the music from the speakers.

Some went fishing and ended up catching lots of fish, including catfish and bass.

A guy even managed to catch a catfish with his bare hands!

For lunch/dinner, there was a variety of delicious food, including pizza topped with meat, chicken, beef, pepperoni, pineapple, and bacon; sausages; and home-cooked roast beef.

Even though it was really hot that day, the fun and memories made it all worthwhile.

2025 Summer Swim Challenge

Brushy Creek

A multi-week swimming program where participants set personal lap goals with volunteer captains.

This summer, TAAA is excited to host its Summer Swim Challenge at the neighborhood pool!

The program aimed to encourage kids to stay active, socialize, and improve their swimming skills.

At the start of the program, each swimmer set a personal lap goal—each lap measuring 50 meters.

The group meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to swim together, build endurance, and cheer each other on.

Each session is led by dedicated captains and co-captains, who help keep everyone motivated and on track.

We're incredibly proud of everyone's effort, progress, and positive spirit. Keep up the good work!

TAAA Summer BBQ Get Together

Champion Park

Lamb skewers, pizza, watermelon, and outdoor activities for the whole family.

On Sunday, June 18, 2025, TAAA hosted a lively summer BBQ get-together at Champion Park.

Families gathered around grills sizzling with lamb skewers and sausages, boxes of pizza, and cooled off with juicy watermelon and cold drinks.

The adults chatted under the pavilion while the kids played in the sun.

A few adventurous young members, including Leo, Marvin, Austin, and Rex, even attempted to crack open a massive rock they suspected to be a geode. However, nature resisted their efforts.

A competitive slackline challenge engaged younger participants, with lots of fun balancing and walking from one end to the other and cheered each other on.

Events like these are what make TAAA special—a chance to celebrate our shared culture, make new friends, and build a strong, supportive community where everyone is included.

Advocacy

SB17 Protest

Texas Capitol

Over 35 TAAA members gathered at the Texas Capitol to protest Senate Bill 17.

On Sunday, May 10th, 2025, TAAA members gathered at the Texas Capitol to protest against Senate Bill 17, a bill that would restrict who can own land in the state.

SB17 blocks residents, governments, or other entities from owning property in Texas if they're from a country the U.S. lists as a national security threat. Those countries include China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia.

Over 35 members peacefully marched and protested at the state capitol and the Governor's Mansion. With every step, they vowed to keep fighting, even if Abbott signs the bill.

Jason Yuan stated: "It is another way of discriminating against the Chinese American community" and "Don't treat us as if we're all spies working for a hostile foreign nation. We're on the contrary. We're small business owners. homemakers, workers, and we're just like everybody else."

Richard Wang noted: "Nobody can tell Chinese from Korean or Vietnamese, and if they are targeted, the Chinese community, the Asian community, the Latino community, now who else, who knows, you might be the next, so join us in this fight."

Prior to the protest, members hired a professional lobbyist through collective donations for daily Capitol advocacy.

Unfortunately, despite our efforts, the bill got signed by Governor Abbott on June 20th and is going to effect on September 1, 2025. However, we will not give up. We will continue fighting for equality and justice for all.
