Boat Party 2025
August 3, 2025 | 3:30pm - 7:30pm | Lake TravisTAAA hosted a lively summer boat party on Lake Travis.
There were two party barge boats in total, a red and a yellow one, each with 48 people. The boats had two floors with a waterslide leading to the water below on the second floor. Other amenities included a grill, which we used to grill cumin lamb and other seasoned meats, and a cooler, which stored all our drinks.
Once we reached our final destination, the captain anchored the boats to nearby trees. The scenery around us was beautiful: clear, blue skies with soft white clouds and blue-green water. There were gradual hills covered in trees, shrubs, and rocky outcrops on one side, and a large stretch of water on the other.
Everyone had a great time catching up, swimming in the water to cool off, relaxing with a drink in hand, and listening to the music from the speakers. Some went fishing and ended up catching lots of fish, including catfish and bass. A guy even managed to catch a catfish with his bare hands! Meanwhile, the kids stayed entertained playing a game where they tried to "freeze" each other using ice water from the cooler.
For lunch/dinner, there was a variety of delicious food, including pizza topped with meat, chicken, beef, pepperoni, pineapple, and bacon; sausages; and home-cooked roast beef. Additionally, there were cut fruits and vegetables like watermelon, carrots, grapes, and cherry tomatoes.
Even though it was really hot that day, the fun and memories made it all worthwhile. It was an eventful, one-of-a-kind, and ultimately exhausting day on the water.
Events like this are what bring the TAAA community closer together—offering a chance to relax, bond, and create lasting memories. It was the perfect way to wrap up the summer on a high note before the busy school year begins.

2025 Summer Swim Challenge
Ranch at Brushy Creek Community PoolThis summer, TAAA is excited to host its Summer Swim Challenge at the neighborhood pool! Designed to encourage kids to stay active, socialize, and improve their swimming skills, the challenge offers a fun and supportive environment for all participants.
At the start of the program, each swimmer set a personal lap goal—each lap measuring 50 meters. The group meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to swim together, build endurance, and cheer each other on.
Each session is led by dedicated captains and co-captains, who help keep everyone motivated and on track. They’re also responsible for recording lap counts and managing snacks and drinks using a weekly budget provided by TAAA.
We’re incredibly proud of everyone’s effort, progress, and positive spirit. Keep up the good work!

TAAA Summer BBQ Get Together
Event 3 Time | Sunday, June 18, 2025 | Champion ParkOn Sunday, June 18, 2025, TAAA hosted a lively summer BBQ get-together at Champion Park. And we played on the tightrope, and we ate BBQ and pizza, and overall just had fun. The food included lamb skewers, pizza, watermelon, sausages, and cold drinks. Champion Park has playgrounds, a sand pit, and a river. It also has a rock climbing area. The afternoon was filled with good food, laughter, and catching up.
Families gathered around grills sizzling with lamb skewers and sausages, boxes of pizza, and cooled off with juicy watermelon and cold drinks. Since we hadn’t had these gathering events in a while, everyone was excited to see each other again, catch up, and talk about summer plans.
The adults chatted under the pavilion while the kids played in the sun. The park was filled with kids exploring the playgrounds, climbing on rocks, and playing in the sandpit. A few adventurous young members, including Leo, Marvin, Austin, and Rex, even attempted to crack open a massive rock they suspected to be a geode. However, nature resisted their efforts.
There was also an extremely competitive slackline challenge between the younger kids. They had lots of fun balancing and walking from one end to the other and cheered each other on.
For TAAA, events like this are a way for us to celebrate our shared culture, make new friends, and build a strong, supportive community where everyone is included.

SB17 Protest
Sunday, May 10th, 2025 | Texas Capitol,On Sunday, May 10th, 2025, TAAA members gathered at the Texas Capitol to protest against Senate Bill 17, a bill that would restrict who can own land in the state.
SB17 blocks residents, governments, or other entities from owning property in Texas if they're from a country the U.S. lists as a national security threat. Those countries include China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia.
Advocates for this bill say they're protecting Texas and its resources, but opponents worry it could be used to justify racial discrimination and create a snowball effect leading to more discriminatory laws in the future.
Because TAAA is all about fostering a deep appreciation of Asian American culture while also advocating for racial equality and justice, over 35 members peacefully marched and protested at the state capitol and the Governor's Mansion. With every step, they vowed to keep fighting, even if Abbott signs the bill. TAAA was also joined by other groups with the same goal of getting rid of the bill. Together, they proudly held up signs and chanted things like “Kill the bill”.
Additionally, members like Jason Yuan, who had gone to the capitol many times to protest, and Richard Wang made memorable speeches, saying, "It is another way of discriminating against the Chinese American community," and "Nobody can tell Chinese from Korean or Vietnamese, and if they are targeted, the Chinese community, the Asian community, the Latino community, now who else, who knows, you might be the next, so join us in this fight," and also, "Don't treat us as if we're all spies working for a hostile foreign nation," said Yuan. "We're on the contrary. We're small business owners. homemakers, workers, and we're just like everybody else."
A few weeks before this, members also got together and generously donated to hire a professional lobbyist to make speeches and protest against the bill at the Capitol, every day.
Unfortunately, despite our efforts, the bill got signed by Governor Abbott on June 20th and is going to effect on September 1, 2025.
Although we have failed this time, we will not give up. We will continue fighting for equality and justice for all. This event shows that the TAAA is dedicated to helping the community and future generations.
